Nigel Ruddin spent much of his professional life in publishing. In the early 1990s he founded a successful business-to-business publishing house whose work covered industries ranging from aviation, finance and healthcare to industrial development and telecommunications. His company also produced publications for major United Nations organisations and for the international oil and gas industry.

After a lifetime spent helping other people bring their ideas to the printed page, Nigel eventually decided it was time to put his own imagination to work. The publisher became the author, and a series of books followed, culminating in Original Worlds — his collection of offbeat stories exploring strange planets, unlikely creatures and the infinite possibilities of the universe.

Never particularly interested in standing still, Nigel has continued to experiment with the boundaries of the printed book. With Original Worlds Book Three, poetry, music and digital technology come together, allowing readers to move directly from the printed page to original musical performances through QR codes. It is perhaps a fitting progression for someone who has spent a lifetime exploring what publishing can be.
